Michael Moss (Chairman) began his career at the Bahamas Electricity Corporation in 1969, advancing to the post of chief generation engineer before joining the Bahamas Oil Refining Company as a senior engineer in 1979. Eight years later he was appointed general manager at Electrical Utilities Company and West End Power and Light, which provided power to the western portion of Grand Bahama. In 1991 he joined Grand Bahama Power Company as assistant general manager, later becoming general manager, responsible for the provision of power to 18,000 customers. He led a team of specialists for Mirant LLP of Atlanta in a due diligence exercise that led to Mirant’s acquisition of an 80 per cent interest in the Jamaica Public Service Company, an electric utility serving 600,000 customers. In 2002 he accepted the post of chief technical officer at JPS. In 2006 he formed his own electrical engineering firm - MMM Consulting. In addition to being chairman of the BCB his recent public duties have included serving as executive chairman of BEC, a member of the BTC Privatization Committee, Chairman of the Professional Engineers Board and president of The Bahamas Institute of Professional Engineers. Mr. Moss has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and numerous postgraduate diplomas and certificates in engineering and management.
Elva Rolle began her career at ZNS as an apprentice in 1969. The following year she received an associates degree in mass communications and television production from Graham Junior College in Boston, after which she secured a permanent position at Radio Bahamas as an announcer/producer. In the 1970’s, and in addition to her radio shift, she was assigned to cover events throughout the Bahamas, producing a wide variety of programmes. She interviewed womens’ groups around the country as the Bahamas prepared to become an independent nation. In 1976 Mrs. Rolle was one of 12 Bahamians who undertook three months of intensive training in Toronto sponsored by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation prior to the introduction of Bahamian television. For inspiring hope and possibility in the field of broadcasting, she was honored in 2004 by the US Embassy, in conjunction with the College of the Bahamas. She has an undergraduate degree In English from the University of Miami, Florida.
Larry Smith began his career as a newspaper reporter and was a writer and editor at the Ministry of Tourism’s News Bureau from 1973 to 1983, when he formed his own communications agency and publishing company - Media Enterprises. In 2003 he took a year’s leave of absence to lead a transition management team at the Nassau Guardian, when that newspaper was acquired by new owners. He edited the Bahamas Environmental Handbook and wrote the text for Portrait of the Bahamas by photographer Michael Toogood. Since 2004 he has produced a weekly column on heritage and current affairs issues for the Tribune. Mr Smith has an undergraduate degree in mass communications and politics from the University of Miami, Florida.
Darnell Osborne is a Certified Public Accountant and a 1989 graduate of the University of Waterloo, Canada. She began her career as a staff accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1989, working in the firm’s Nassau and Freeport offices. In 1993 she joined New World Trustees (Bahamas) Ltd as a fund accountant and undertook studies for the Canadian Securities Course, which she passed with honours. At New World she held various positions in the mutual funds department, rising to the position of executive director and member of the Board. She also acted as the company’s compliance officer when this position was created due to regulatory changes. From 1998 to 2000 she was a consultant for a Swiss offshore institution, before accepting the post of financial controller at Insurance Company of the Bahamas, an affiliate of J S Johnson & Co Ltd. Mrs. Osborne is a member of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants and served for six years on the Board of St. Andrew’s School, and was also chairperson of the school’s finance committee from 2007-2010. She is a director of the Family Fun Group of Companies, which owns and operates the Mr. Pretzels and Dairy Queen franchises in the Bahamas.
Earl Thompson Jr., began his career at the Central Bank of the Bahamas in 1985 before moving into the sales and marketing field in 1990 at Bethell Robertson, where he grew an impressive portfolio of brands. After the liberalisation of broadcasting he joined Jones Communications in 1994 as marketing manager for Love 97FM, Caribah Magazine and the Bahama Journal. In 2001 he joined the Broadcasting Corporation as marketing consultant and later that year was appointed deputy general manager, marketing. He also held the post of deputy general manager, plant & maintenance before resigning in 2006 to become sales manager at Seaboard Marine, an international shipping firm. Mr. Thompson is currently a Deputy Director, Special Projects. He has served on the board of Bahamas Air, and has an undergraduate degree in management from St. John’s University in Minnesota.
